Welcome to the 4D Athletes podcast, where we explore the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of high-performance sports. Today, we have the pleasure of speaking with Adam Short, a basketball coach who has dedicated his career to helping young athletes achieve their full potential.
Adam has an impressive resume, with experience coaching at the collegiate level. Currently, he is the Head Director of Player Development Coach at the University of Texas Austin, where he works on the defensive side of the ball, leads practice plans, creates scouting reports, and makes in-game coaching adjustments. He also coaches on the court during practices and workouts, and uses Synergy and Sportscode to make player edits.
In addition to his coaching duties, Adam serves as the Head Academic Coordinator for Men's Basketball at Texas, ensuring that his players are succeeding both on and off the court. He is also responsible for recruiting junior college and prep school players from the Midwest to join the team.
Prior to his current role, Adam was the Director of Basketball Operations at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he oversaw team travel, meals, and budget for the 2021-2022 season. He organized the weekly team schedule and used Sports Code to break down practice and game film. He also played a key role in recruiting potential student athletes, including high school players, JUCO, prep school, and transfers.
Throughout his career, Adam has demonstrated a deep passion for the game of basketball and a commitment to helping young athletes reach their full potential. We hope you enjoy this inspiring conversation with one of the most dedicated coaches in the sport. To learn more about Adam and his work, follow him on Twitter at @APShort143210
