#75 Leslie Weirich: How do we use our story to give hope to others?

In Episode 75 of the 4D Athletes Podcast, Jim and Jason are joined by Leslie Weirich, who is the founder of Leslie’s Hope.

Life is full of highs and lows, and Leslie has seen her share of both. She had a successful career, married the love of her life and was blessed to be the mother to two beautiful children. But She has also known incredible loss. It was 2:30 in the morning on September 10th, 2016. She awoke to the doorbell ringing and the news that her 20-year-old son, Austin, had taken his life. It was the moment that changed everything.

Because of the unique circumstances surrounding her story, it would eventually capture the attention of national news. The response she received made her realize that her story is meant to be told. It has the power to save young lives and spare other parents the devastating loss she and her family experienced. Telling her story to save others is what gets her up and going every single day. It’s her passion and has become her life’s work.

She left her career as a successful financial recruiter and now speaks to thousands of people across the country about suicide prevention –sharing her story and giving practical tools to build resilience. In addition to traveling and speaking, She works as a Suicide Prevention Specialist for the community mental health center serving two local counties, where she are transforming suicide prevention in schools.
